What is herpes?

The herpes virus takes several different forms, with over 40,000 new cases of herpes diagnosed each day in the US – a total of 15,000,000 new herpes infections each year.

The most common herpes infections are caused by herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2. Herpes simplex 1 is associated with cold sores and mouth blisters (oral herpes), whilst herpes simplex 2 is the main cause of the sexually transmitted disease genital herpes. Once herpes has been contracted, it is permanent.

Herpes outbreaks usually begin with small blisters, and symptoms such as pain, itching and burning. A tingling of the skin can also indicate that a herpes outbreak is imminent. If herpes is not treated, the blisters can grow, lasting several days or even longer, forming scabs at the end of the cycle.

Sufferers of genital herpes 'shed' viral particles from their genitals, and this viral shedding is believed to play a significant role in the worldwide herpes epidemic.

What causes herpes?

Highly contagious, the herpes virus is transmitted by direct skin contact. Once a person is infected, the herpes virus resides in one end of the spinal column, with genital herpes occurring in the ganglia at the base of the spine, and oral herpes infecting the nerves at the top of the spine.

Directions for use

Apply 2-3 drops of H-Balm Control Daily onto a moist cotton bud and dab to potential problem area 2-3 times daily. Apply 2-3 drops of H-Balm Control Extra Strength 3-4 times a day during an outbreak of herpes.

For best results, use immediately when you suspect an outbreak is imminent. Use of this product during prodrome (tingling often experienced before herpes outbreaks) may improve results. Apply to the soles of feet three times a day for systemic support. Wash hands after use.
