What is herpes?

There are several different strains of the herpes virus, and an estimated 90% of the American population is infected with one form or another. Over 40,000 new cases of herpes are diagnosed each day in the US alone, which is a staggering 15,000,000 new herpes infections each year.

What causes herpes?
